About

The Royal Oak FC was formed in the Tap room of the Royal Oak Public house in 1997. Lifelong friends Paul Sampson (first team manager) and Steve Bracknall (Assistant Manager) had a dream. To form their very own Sunday league football team and take them to the heights of the Meadowhall premier league. They currently reside in the 4th tier of the Sheffield Sunday Imperial League.

The club owners are landlord and landlady of The Oak, Terry and June Whitmore. Proud publicans and proud custodians of this great club.

Recent economic events are a cause for concern for all Sunday league clubs. The trickle-down economics of the football pyramid mean that clubs like Man City and Newcastle have a bottomless pit of resources, meanwhile, clubs such as The Oak have to rely on traditional means of income. In the main this consists of race nights, spot the ball cards and a raffle that is drawn at 3pm in The Oak every Sunday.

Whether it be Steve Bracknall,  Paul Sampson, Bob the Bucket, Housey, Wynny, Parksy, Tommy or Our Nikki.

We can only hope that you see a little bit of yourself in the Oak,

"Together as One"

Steve Bracknall (Assistant Manager)
